ABOUT THE ROLE

Pawns.app is entering a critical growth phase. We have a successful product, global traction, and a solid foundation — and we are now ready to elevate leadership to fully own the business performance of the product end to end.

We are hiring a Head of Business Unit to run Pawns.app as a standalone business line. This role goes beyond product management. You will be accountable for growth, monetization, and overall business performance, using product strategy as one of the primary levers to scale the business.

You will take over an existing product organization and roadmap and sharpen them into a clear strategy for scale. Working closely with the co-founders, you will align on direction and priorities — and then operate with full ownership over execution, decisions, and budget.

The focus of this role is to drive Pawns.app’s next stage of growth by combining strong product leadership with sound business judgment, growth thinking, and decisive execution.

This is a senior leadership role with CEO-level accountability within its scope, focused on outcomes, trade-offs, and execution in a fast-moving B2C environment.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Own the Business Strategy

  • Define and own the business strategy for Pawns.app.
  • Take ownership of the existing business roadmap, reassess priorities, and evolve it into a clear plan to drive growth, retention, and monetization.
  • Translate company objectives into measurable business outcomes, not just feature delivery.

Own Growth, Monetization & Business Development

  • Be accountable for user growth, engagement, retention, and revenue performance.
  • Identify, validate, and scale core growth levers through experimentation and data.
  • Drive business development initiatives, including new revenue streams, partnerships, and expansion opportunities.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to shape acquisition strategy and optimize unit economics.

Operate as Business Unit Leader

  • Act as the single accountable owner for business and product decisions within scope.
  • Own prioritization, trade-offs, and resource allocation across the organization.
  • Take full ownership of the business budget and ensure disciplined investment decisions.

Lead and Develop the Organization

  • Lead a 19-person product organization, including hiring, performance management, and development.
  • Establish clear ownership, accountability, and decision-making processes.
  • Raise the bar on execution quality, speed, and business impact.

Lead Through Change

  • Continuously assess market, user, and performance signals and adjust direction as needed.
  • Make high-impact decisions under uncertainty while maintaining execution focus.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Business & Product Leadership

  • Strong experience leading B2C digital products in growth-focused environments.
  • Experience owning business outcomes, not just product execution.
  • Proven track record with mobile apps (strong advantage).

Growth & Commercial Acumen

  • Deep understanding of B2C growth mechanics, monetization models, and funnels.
  • Ability to connect product decisions directly to revenue, growth, and unit economics.
  • Experience working across Product, Marketing, Engineering, and Leadership.

Leadership & Ownership

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams of 10+ people.
  • High level of ownership and accountability for results.
  • Comfortable making hard trade-offs and challenging assumptions — including those of founders.

Communication & Credibility

  • Clear, structured communicator with strong business judgment.
  • Senior presence and credibility to lead teams and influence stakeholders.
  • Fluent English.

You’ll be successful if you:

  • Build a deep understanding of Pawns.app’s users, product, and business model.
  • Align with the co-founders on a clear business and growth strategy.
  • Establish clear ownership and decision-making cadence across the organization.
  • Identify and activate at least one core growth or monetization lever.
  • Take full ownership of execution, decisions, and budget.
