iPhone Proxy

Configuring a proxy for iPhone is easy and will not take a significant portion of your time. Here is how you go about it:

Head on to Settings and select Wi-Fi Tap the name of the wireless network you are connected to Scroll down, and at the bottom of the screen, you will see the HTTP proxy option.

By default, the HTTP proxy option is set to off, meaning that your iPhone will not use a proxy connection at all. You can enable the Auto option, which will allow your device to use the Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Protocol (WPAD) . This option will check whether a proxy is needed for the WiFi network you are connected to and automatically configure one for you. It is often used for school and business networks. However, it is worth noting that your device will not use a proxy if the Wi-Fi network does not provide proxy details using the WPAD protocol. On the other hand, you can select the Manual option and enter the proxy server’s address in the Server box and the port number in the Port box. If the connection requires a user name and password, the provider will let you know, after which you will input these credentials to enable authentication. You need to be careful and input the details correctly here; otherwise, you will not be able to access the internet.

You can also use Apple Configurator to set up your iPhone proxy server. The procedure is pretty similar to the one above. Use the Manual setting and provide the IP address, port number, and authentication if necessary. If your proxy service provider offers PAC or WPAD for automatic configuration, use the Auto setting. You’ll have to provide the URL for PAC.

Now that you have followed the above procedure on your iOS device, how do you confirm if it’s actually working?

There are several methods you can use to check if your proxy settings are correct. The first and arguably easiest technique is to head over to the web and use websites such as WhatisMyIp.com to check your IP address. If they are in line with your provider, you will have confirmed that your proxy settings are working. Another option is navigating to the settings outlined above and checking your proxy configuration.

Mobile proxies are the best option for iPhones. These are real devices with authentic ISP-issued IP addresses on 4G mobile networks. However, you need to be extremely careful with the provider if your data’s privacy is important to you.
